The Muʿtamad Certificate
Independent Professional Verification for Online Islamic Education
Muʿtamad Certified Teachers and Academies have been independently evaluated on their teaching quality, professionalism, ethics, and learner care. This is not a certificate of attendance. It is a professional verification — earned through evidence, observation, and demonstrated practice.
Muʿtamad (مُعتَمَد) is an Arabic word meaning trusted, verified, and relied upon. In the context of Islamic education, it carries a specific weight: this person or institution has been evaluated and found worthy of trust.
What Does Muʿtamad Mean?
When a teacher holds Muʿtamad Certification from Ms. Lamia Learns, it means they have submitted their teaching practice for independent review — including their lesson planning, parent communication, intake processes, and classroom delivery — and met a defined professional standard.
When an academy holds Muʿtamad Certification, it means their systems, safeguarding, staff quality, and teaching standards have been audited and verified.
This Is Not a Course Certificate
A certificate of completion confirms that a teacher was present for a course. It does not confirm that they understood the material, changed their practice, or can teach effectively.A Course Certificate Says: “I attended this training.”
The Muʿtamad Standard Says: “This teacher has been evaluated.”
Muʿtamad Certification confirms that a teacher has been assessed on their lesson planning, classroom delivery, parent communication, ethical practice, and implementation of professional teaching frameworks — through portfolio evidence and live observation. How It Works
-
Finish the required courses at Tier 1 or Tier 2, plus one elective. Build your skills with frameworks designed for online Islamic education.
-
Build a professional portfolio demonstrating your lesson planning, parent communication, intake processes, and framework implementation. Then teach a real lesson while I observe.
-
If you meet the standard, you receive your Muʿtamad Certified Teacher credential, a listing in The Muʿtamad Teacher Directory, and a trust badge for your professional materials.
For Teachers
-
Provide your policies, staff records, safeguarding documentation, communication samples, and quality assurance evidence for review.
-
Participate in a leadership interview, allow lesson observations of selected staff, and provide student and parent feedback data.
-
If your institute meets the standard, you receive Muʿtamad Certified Academy status, a listing in The Muʿtamad Academy Directory, and a verified trust badge.
For Institutes & Academies
The Standard I Am Building
Ms. Lamia, Founder of Ms. Lamia Learns | Madrasatu AlFaseelah LLCI created the Muʿtamad Standard because I believe Islamic education deserves the same professional rigor that exists in every other teaching field. Parents should not have to guess whether their child’s teacher is qualified. Teachers who invest in their craft should be recognized for what they can actually do. And institutes that genuinely care about quality should be able to prove it.
Every application and lesson observation is reviewed with care according to my standards. Every certification decision is made and signed by me personally. My name is behind every credential issued, so each certification reflects the quality, integrity, and trust this process is built on.

It is not a government-issued accreditation, teaching license, or degree equivalency. It is a professional verification of teaching quality, pedagogical standards, and ethical practice within online Islamic education.
