السلام عليكم 🌿 حيّاكم الله
I’m Ms. Lamia, and I’m glad you’re here.
Who I Am & What Guides My Work
I do not believe education is simply the transfer of information. A person can hear something, repeat it, and even remember it for a time without truly acquiring it. Real learning goes deeper. It becomes internalized, usable, meaningful, and lasting. That distinction shapes the way I teach, the way I build, and the way I think about education as a whole.
By the will of Allah, I was guided to this path through motherhood, homeschooling, and lived experience, which gradually opened the way to broader work in teaching, curriculum design, educational development, and professional learning. That journey gave me not only experience, but a deeper awareness of what meaningful education truly requires.
I am an American Board Certified Teacher in Elementary Education and Special Education, a TESOL-certified educator, and I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry. Alongside my formal training, I have continued to pursue deeper study in literacy, language development, and the cognitive and developmental processes that shape how people learn, retain, and grow.
Over the years, I have worked with children and adults in both online and in-person settings through teaching, curriculum development, literacy support, and educational design. I am also the founder of Madrasatu AlFaseelah and the educator behind Ms. Lamia Learns. Both were built from a sincere desire to offer education that is more thoughtful, more intentional, and more genuinely supportive of growth across learners, families, educators, and learning environments.
My approach is rooted in awareness of the whole learner. Developmental readiness, language background, emotional state, sensory experience, environment, attention, and cognitive load all shape whether learning truly takes root or simply passes through. I am deeply influenced by how the brain learns and changes, how language is naturally acquired, and how thoughtful design can reduce unnecessary burden while preserving depth, meaning, and clarity.
I also tend to notice patterns, gaps, and overlooked needs within educational spaces. That lens has shaped much of my work. It has led me to care not only about teaching lessons, but also about strengthening learning experiences, deepening teacher awareness, and thinking carefully about the structures and environments that support real growth.
At the heart of it all is a strong belief that children and adults are capable of far more than they are often given the opportunity to show. With the right support, greater clarity, and genuine awareness of who they are as learners, growth can become deeply meaningful and transformative. That belief continues to guide everything I build through Ms. Lamia Learns and Madrasatu AlFaseelah, in sincere hope that it brings real and lasting benefit, إن شاء الله.
